DayKind
Support
DayKind is designed to be simple and private. The journal works fully offline; Link needs a connection only to deliver a Pulse.
Link and Pulse
What is Link? What is a Pulse?
Link connects you with one person who matters — a partner, a parent, a close friend. A Pulse is a single tap that tells them you are thinking of them. It lands on their Home Screen widget and Apple Watch as a warmed-up heart. There is no message to write, no chat, no photos, no location and no read receipts.
How do invitations work?
Open the Link tab, choose Add connection, and share the invitation as a link or read out the short code. The other person installs DayKind, signs in with Apple and either opens the link or enters the code.
- Each invitation works once. After it is accepted it cannot be reused.
- Invitations expire. If one has expired, create a new one.
- You can revoke an invitation you no longer want to use.
DayKind never reads or uploads your address book. You share the link yourself, through whatever app you like.
Why does the other person need an iPhone and the app?
A Pulse is delivered to a widget and an Apple Watch, not to a phone number or an email. That requires DayKind on the receiving side, and DayKind is an iPhone app. If they open your invitation without the app, the page sends them to the App Store first; after installing, they open the invitation again.
Why can't I send another Pulse right away?
Pulse has a 60-second cooldown. One tap is the whole gesture; the pause keeps it from turning into a stream of taps. The heart shows when it is ready again.
What are quiet hours?
Quiet hours are a window — for example, night-time or working hours — during which a Pulse never rings or buzzes on your devices. It still arrives and your heart still warms up; you simply notice it when you next look. Set them in Connection settings on the Link tab.
Apple Watch and Home Screen widgets
After installing or updating DayKind, open the app once. Widgets on iPhone and Apple Watch refresh after that first launch; until then they may look empty.
- iPhone widgets: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap the plus button, search for DayKind. Link widgets send and show a Pulse; Check-in widgets show Up / Steady / Down.
- Apple Watch: the DayKind Watch app installs with the iPhone app (check the Watch app on iPhone if it does not). Add the DayKind complication to a watch face to see and send a Pulse from your wrist.
- If a widget stops updating, open DayKind on the iPhone again and make sure Background App Refresh is allowed for it in iOS Settings.
What does DayKind Plus include, and what stays free?
Free, always: one connection, Pulse, and the whole journal — check-ins, factors, notes, calendar, insights and sharing.
DayKind Plus is an optional annual subscription that adds:
- 23 hearts to choose from for your connection
- A shared appearance — the other person sees your chosen heart even without Plus
- Widget and Apple Watch styles that carry your heart
- A local Warmth Map of the months you stayed in touch
- A private Annual Review with a preview of exactly what you share
The price is shown in the App Store and inside the app under Settings › DayKind Plus. Plus never unlocks your journal for another person.
How do I restore purchases, or manage and cancel the subscription?
To restore: open Settings › DayKind Plus and tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account that bought it.
To manage or cancel: subscriptions are handled by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, choose DayKind, and change or cancel it there. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Plus stays active until the end of the current period. DayKind cannot cancel or refund subscriptions on your behalf — refunds are requested through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I disconnect or block someone?
Open the Link tab, then Connection settings. Disconnect ends the connection for both people; either of you can invite again later. Block also prevents that person from connecting with you again through a new invitation. Neither action touches your journal.
How do I delete my Link account?
On the Link tab, open Connection settings and choose Delete account. This removes your Link account, your connection and your Pulse history from the DayKind Link service. Your journal is not affected — it lives only on your iPhone and is deleted separately, either through the app's local data controls or by deleting the app.
What data does Link store, and what does it never receive?
Link stores only what it needs to work: an opaque account created with Sign in with Apple, the connection between two accounts, invitation tokens, device registrations for delivering a Pulse, the Pulses themselves, your Plus entitlement, and the shared heart theme for a connection.
Link never receives your journal — no check-ins, notes, factors or Insights — and never receives your address book or the local names you give connections. There are no ads, no tracking and no analytics SDK. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Daily check-in
On Today, choose Up, Steady, or Down. You can then add up to three optional factors and a private note. Tap Done above the keyboard, or drag the keyboard down, to return to the screen.
Calendar and insights
Calendar shows your saved days as a mosaic. Insights summarizes the selected week or month after you have started checking in.
Sharing
Open Insights, choose Week or Month, then choose Share. Review the Feed or Story preview before opening the iOS share sheet. Notes and factors are never placed in a shared image.
Reminders
Open Settings from the profile icon, enable Daily reminder, and choose a time. If reminders do not arrive, allow notifications for DayKind in iOS Settings.
First-launch guide
The introductory guide appears on first launch. You can replay it at any time from Settings.
